Reeder, was listed in serious condition Wednesday night in an Ogden hospital from injuries he received in a horse-ridinaccident Tuesday afternoon. Box Elder Reeder, a resident, suffered severe head injuries when the horse he was riding fell as he and a companion were moving cattle into a feedlot one mile north of Brigham City. He was reported in critical condition early Wednesday, but his condition had changed to serious at McKay hospital by late Wednesday afternoon. He was still in the intensive care unit. ad g well-know- The back end of a Brigham City Police patrol car was smashed after the emergency vehicle collided with another auto at the intersection of Second South and Main Wednesday morning. Nearly 100 members of Brigham City are involved in the show and it is hoped, by the board, that Oliver! will be supported by every family in Brigham City and by surrounding communities. Oliver! will run Aug. 4, 5, 6, and 7 beginning at 8:30 p.m. each night at the high school. The Sales tax issue in Box Elder county will be discussed at a dinner meeting hosted by Brigham City corporation for all the mayor and town presidents throughout Box Elder county. The town officials were invited to the dinner planned at the Community cer.tr, Saturday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. by a letter sent to everyone of them Tuesday by Mayor Olof E. Zundel. We are calling this meeting for the purpose of discussing the sales tax issue in the county. We feel it would be worthwhile to have a meeting such as this to air all our views in an informal atmosphere, said Mayor Zundel. -- Mayor Bart Wholthuis of Ogden and Mayor Richard Chambers of Logan will also attend the meeting and explain how the program is working in their communities. Special Awards Given Donors Visit Bloodmobile Brigham City residents turned out Monday, to give blood in memory of Mrs. Winifred Ryan, longtime American Red Cross volunteer, as the Red Cross Bloodmobile visited the Brigham City Community Center from 3 to 7 p.m. The blood drawing brought out 29 new donors of 93 total donors who signed in, for a much larger percentage of new donors than in the past. In total there were 87 units of blood drawn and six donors deferred to a later date. Eleventh grade students should note that (Continued on Page Two) ' E. Wayne Loveland, a SUCCUMBS local civic and church leader, died Sunday morning at his home. Local Leader Succumbs At His Home Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon for E. Wayne Loveland, 54, a member of the Box Elder County Board of Education and an active civic and church leader, who died Sunday morning at his home at 568 South First East, of complications following surgery. He was born Oct. 22, 1916, in Snowville, a son of Oliver George and Ethel Loveland Loveland. He was married to Winnifred Evans on Jan. 27, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Box Elder Native The Box Elder county native was reared in Brigham City and was a graduate of Box Elder High school. He was a high priest in the Sixth LDS ward where he served as bishop for five years. He was also a member of the Box Elder Stake High council. Loveland was a member of the Bonneville council of Boy Scouts and received the Merit of Service award. A past president of the Brigham City Lions club, he also served as district governor of the Lions club. He was also a member of the library board. Loveland was also a past president of the Rural Mail Carriers association of Utah after having served as a rural mail carrier in Brigham City. The local native also served In the U.S. Navy during World War II. List of Survivors Surviving are his widow of Brigham City; three daughters, Mrs. Gene (Sharon) Juber, Mrs. Alan (Colleen) Oviatt, both of Brigham City; Mrs. John (Mary Jean) Johnson, Minot, N.D.; three grandchildren; and the following sisters, Mrs. Ada Mae Petersen, Granger; Mrs. Henry Swenson, Ogden; Mrs. Cora Nielsen, Garland; Mrs. Melvin Licht, Brigham City. Funeral services were conducted in the Box Elder tabernacle. Burial was in the Brigham City cemetery. |
