Show N 18 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, June 17, 1971 Perry Pulse Corinne Comments local Scouts Get library Open Top Honor Awards For ummer By Mrs. Max Nelson The boy scouts of Troop 110 and By Gertrude Moore Corinne school librarian Mrs. Godfrey Pommier wishes to remind children of all ages in the school district that the school library is open for a limited time. The program for the summer is the same one mentioned in a letter sent home to parents before the close of the school year. Everyone Is invited to participate. Hours for the program have been set from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program began June 14 and will end July 9. A story hour will be held at 12 noon if enough children are interested, according to Mrs. Pommier. The Boy Scouts of Troops 113 and 217 joined members of Box Elder LDS stake north in a campout on Docs Flat last weekend. The boys cooked supper and set up tents for their over-nigstay, Friday night. There were nine boys of Troop 113, Scoutmaster Don Walker and two adult chaperones, John Prescott and Ronald Rathbone who spent the night. Karl Norman and 10 Boy scouts of Troop 217 joined the group for the overnight stay. : For Breakfast Joining the scouts as guests for breakfast Saturday morning were members of the Beehive classes of the stake. There were nine girls and their leader Mrs Robert Norton from the Corinne LDS ward who joined the group. Girls and leaders from Corinne Second LDS ward also joined the boys from that ward. Leaders who accompanied them were, Nelda Norman, activity counselor and June Craner, stake leader. Cub Pack 113 held a meeting at the Corinne City park Saturday, June 5. The event was to have included a frog race but only one entry by Danny Gibbons received first, second and third place. Awards were presented to the following boys by Robert Cheney, a member of the scout committee. Sportsman pins went to Sheldon Mills, Kevin Wells and Brad Stewart; Scott Nelson received the Webelo award, the Arrow of Light, a graduation certificate from the Webelo den into the Guide Patrol and a sportsmanship badge; Danny Gibbons a wolf badge and a gold arrow; Elliot Hill a wolf badge; Scott Higgins a wolf badge and a gold and three silver arrows. named by her father at their home on Saturday, in company of the bishop of the ward there. Baby Boy Arrives The Maurice Carters are happy over the arrival of a baby boy June 10 in the Cooley Memorial hospital. He will join sisters Jill and Kim and a brother Clayton who are eagerly awaiting his arrival at home. Grandparent honors are shared by Mr. and Mrs. Floyde Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Rawlins of Trenton. Lamar (Bud) Rader is in a slightly improved condition after undergoing surgery in a local hospital on Friday. The Bud Raders spent a four-da- y holiday at Twin Lakes in Idaho last week. Their son Eddy acand daughter Cindy companied them on the outing. They were happy to have a grandson Phillip Christensen join them for a two-da- y stay. They camped in their trailer and spent some time on the lake in their boat and fishing. The fishing was "great," but the weather was cold and rainy at times, according to the Raders. Attend Reception large crowd of relatives and friends attended the reception in honor of newlyweds Dennis and Judy Lynn Fluhrer on the evening of June 2. The couple were married in the Salt Lake LDS temple on that day. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jewel Nelson. guests included a grandmother of the bride Mrs. Ida Jackson, aunts and an uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Berdette (Fern) Coleman and Mrs. Blaine (Ilene) Abraham and children all of Orem. The couple are making a home in Provo. The bridegroom plans to attend classes at BYU this fall. The Paul Christiansens motored to Mayfield recently. They spent three days there visiting with Pauls parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Christiansen . and with Marsha's parents, Mr.' and Mrs. Ray Taylor of GunA n nison. The couples children accompanied them, Pauline stayed to spend two weeks with 330 son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Nelson of Troop 110; Kevin Hirschi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Hirschi and Corey son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dinsdale of troop 330 were each recipients of scoutings highest rank. The top ten boys in scouting were also announced. Six of the ten are members of Perrys scouting troops. Those from troop 330 to win this honor were Brett Whitaker, Kevin Hirschi, Steven Weight, David Sevy and Steven Nowak. Reese Nelson was also named as one of the top ten. Each of the top ten received gift certificates entitling them to a red scouting jacket. Second class rank advancements went to Kelly Nelson of Troop 110, Dennis Hirschi and Kent Lund of Troop Nelson, from Perry received a wide variety of awards at the Box Elder South LDS Stake court of Honor last Thursday evening. Among the awards presented were three Eagle Badges. Presenting the Eagle badges was Dale Johnston, Box Elder South Stake Scout leader. Reese her grandparents. David and Karen returned home with their parents. Mrs. Verlie Jeppesen, acand companied her daughter, Fredrick and Patsy Davis and their children, Lisa, Cindy and Tiffany to Taylorsville on Fast Sunday. The group went to enjoy dinner with the Tad and Carolyn Jeppesen and family. They attended sacrament meeting with them to witness the naming and blessing of the Jeppesens daughter, Laurie Jean. She was blessed and named by her father. Mrs. Norma Bosley and a granddaughter Edie Levinthan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael (Ardith) Levinthan of Brigham City, returned home by plane from Glendale, Ariz. He was baptized on Saturday and confirmed on Sunday by a friend of the family, Lew Peterson. Mrs. Bosley had attended the baccalaureat address at the spectrum on the campus of Utah State university June 4. A daughter, Mrs. Gordon (LaRey) Peterson of Brigham City had received her degree in education at the fine arts building at commencement exercises on Saturday morning. Mrs. Bosley attended that event before leaving by plane for Arizona that afternoon. Din-sdal- e, 330. Many awards were presented to the youth for accomplishments received this year. Woman Gains Top Honors BC Brigham City mother of sons recently graduated magna cum laude with a BS degree in education from Weber State college. Mrs. Doyl'ii Scothern, 637 South First West, was elected to Phi Kappa Phi, a national A five honorary society, after attaining a 3.58 grade point average. She is now looking for a teaching position. She is the daughter of Mi . and Mrs. Ray Nelson, 455 North First West, and has five sons, ages two through 12. Her husband is an electronics technician with Thiokol. The family group enjoyed dinner at the Allen home after the meeting. Joining them there for dinner and pleasant afternoon of conversation were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Roche and family, Rayland Roche and Terry Christopher. Sgt. Rayland Roche, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Roche returned May 14 from a tour of duty with the U.S. Army reserves in Korea. Receiving the happy news the arrival of a new granddaughter were Ted and Marg Burt. The baby was born June 9 in a Columbus, Ohio hospital to their daughter-in-laand son, Ronald and Lynn over Burt. Sharing grandparents honors are Mr. and Mrs. James Roth of San Francisco, Calif. Great grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. T.L. Grazer of Willard and Mr. and Mrs. R.N. Burt of Brigham City. Capt.
