She grew up in Brigham City and attended Utah State university and Utah university. A teacher in Box Elder county elementary schools for nine years, she also served two full LDS missions and was active in Relief society and YWMIA. He married Sandra Chadwick on Sept. 25, 1964, In San Leandro, Calif. He worked as a machinist and served in the US Navy. A member of the LDS church, he also belonged to the Disabled American Veterans. He moved to Ogden from Rexburg, Idaho, In 1961, and had also lived in San Leandro, i Calif.
