Show 2 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, April 17, 1969 ily? From A to Z We left a little after 3 a.m. and made the journey to the hospital. Brigham City sure isn't busy at that hour in the moi.nirig didn't have to worry about traffic jams. any When we arrived at rhe hospital the nurses in charge helped my wife get ready. Mr. Z was left to wait. Yours truly picked up a magazine and read a very interesting article, but cant remember a thing. Mr. Z's eyes must have read it but nothing reached the brain. Yours truly was too nervous. After several hours of building tension, delivery time came. The nurse donned Mr. Z in a cap, by Zimowsky All the action started a lit- tle after 2 a.m. and what a nightl Mr. and Mrs. Z just finished watching the late show and got the bright idea of moving the bedroom furniture around at 1 a.m. Yours truly still doesn't know why we started such a ridiculous job I at that hour, but the furniture just didn't look right. After we were really beat and sleepy about 2 a.m.) we decided to hit the sack. Well, low and behold, Mrs. Z whispers into husher groggy, think band's ear, "Dear, its time to go to the hospital." 'BINGO! Yours truly flipped out of bed, hit a couple walls and tripped several times, dressed in about three minutes and was ready to go (usually Mr. Z can't get out of bed in time to get to half-a-slee- p I work). Mrs. Z. calmly got ready as Mr. Z paced up and down leaving a slight path in the rug. Even though it's only four or five blocks to the hospital, Mr. Z had to warm up the car engine, to make sure it was ready for the quarter mile. When all systems checked out Mr. Z went back into the house to check out the home front. Mrs. Z wasn't ready This only made yours trulys nerves heat up a little more. He got back in his groove and paced. Mrs. Z was still calm as Mr. Z was on the tip of a nervous breakdown. Why is it always the male who blows his cool just before a new addition joins a fam mask and gown. Yours truly does- n't know how she did it, because Mr. Z was shaking like a leaf. The magic moment came at 8:01 a.m. Monday when Mr. Z junior let out a scream and told the world he was a new member. Mr. Z was relieved and so was Mrs. Z. Little Z weighed in at six pounds, four ounces and was 20 BIG SWEEP These Brigham City Lions are among those involved in the service club's annual broom sale. The project began Wednesday and will continue this i has always The question will be debated and up popped for many years to come. Who has the hardest time having a baby, the wife or husband? The wives will say they have the hard time but the husband will say they have the tangled nerves. Well, one thing for sure theyre both happy. Very happy. The nurse and the staff at our local hospital are sure a nice bunch of people. They make everyone feel right at home and go out of their way to help. They deserve a real hand. HOWEVER, he Invited those round the house (or even just 723-573- frames) For some time I have been concerned about the educational achievement of students graduating from Box Elder county schools. As an instructor at Weber State college, I have taught many students who were graduated from Box Elder schools. I found many to be in a knowledge of world affairs and in English. However, I was prompted to write this letter after watching the Sterling Scholar Awards on April 15. (Channel 5) I was appalled to note the poor representation from the two high schools in Box Elder county. Having taught in a high school in the Salt Lake City district, I realize there are many variables involved in the awards, but my concern is whether or not our students are really prepared to compete with the students in the rest of the state and nation. Where does the responsibility he? Is it with the the superparents, the teachers, the administrators, intendent, or the board of education? We must meet the standards set by others in our state. There is education in Box Elder no excuse for county. As graduation approaches I hope our graduates are prepared to meet the competition ahead of them. Sincerely, Louise F.
