Show BOX THE JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, February 8, 1968 ELDER RESOLUTION OF THE SPADE AND HOPE Aged Mother GARDEN CLUB OF BRIGHAM CITY and Members of the Brigham To Mayor Zundel City Council: Dies Sunday; Whereas: Mrs. John Alex was duly appointed Brigham City Beautification Chairman by Mayor Zundel and the City Council, and sponsored by the Spade and Hope Garden Club, and has done a commendable job in carrying out this program, and Funeral Set Whereas: Mrs. John Alex has encouraged many people and gained their cooperation to contribute to this project and further, Whereas: The presentation of a scrapbook, compiled by Mrs. Alex and her committee, resulted in the honor of receiving the National Clean Up Award for Brigham City, together with outstanding national awards which Brigham City has received in 1965 and 1966, and SUCCUMBS Mis. s tlier Bowden, 79, died ol causes incident to age. I Whereas: This outstanding honor is the climax of a years arduous effort with the trophy presentation as the highlight of this accomplishment, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Mayor and City Council reconsider their decision concerning the exclusion of Mrs. John Alex as a delegate to attend this presentation of the National Clean Up Award for Brigham City. Members of Spade and Hope Garden Club February 5, 1968 Legion Meeting Mrs. Esther Drusilla JenKs Bowden, age 79, of 43 North Fifth West, died Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Dee Busenbark in Biigham City, of causes incident to age Mrs. Bowden was born July 29, 1888 in North Ogden, a daughter of Cluuncey and Es. tlier Jane Bell Jenks. She was married to Leslie William Bowden on Feb. 24, 1908 In Logan. The marriage was later solemnized In the Logan LDS Temple. Mr. Bow-dedied Aug. 11, 1958. She was a member of the Brigham City Third LDS watd. She had been active m the Sunday school, Piimary andRelief soc. iety as a teacher and member of the piestcjency, and had been a Relief society block teacher. She had fol mei ly resided in Idaho Mid-Wint- er n The American Legion Post will meet Thursday, Feb. 15, at the War Memorial Home, according to Verl Petersen.
