WINNING entry follows: One morning recently we re. celved word that a gang of fraud, ulent check passers, who had been responsible for a series of frauds against western banks, were now working the Utah area. Their method of operation was to open a new account by depositing a large check drawn on an bank, asking, at the same time, for a certain amount of cash In return - a typical spilt deposit transaction. The check, of course, was not good. We discussed the situation and agreed that If one of the gang showed up at the window of our new accounts teller, Mrs. Kenna Jacobsen, she would signal his presence there by taking off one of her earrings.
