Three Brigham City players and graduates of Box Elder High will be on the two roster s and all three are at the guard position. WILSON ONLY A sophomore has won himself a starting birth for BYU at defensive middle guard and has been good news to the BYU coaching staff. His rise to prominence has come slowly but the fact that he Is only a sophomore he has actually seasoned ahead of sch. edule. For his play In the Unlver. slty of Pacific game two weeks ago Wilson was selected as lineman of the game by the coaches. Now that the season Is over the halfway mark Wilson has become a starter on defense and barring Injury, BYU of. flclals feel, he may be In for higher honors before the season ends. Wilson and Smith are both listed at 220 on their respective teams rosters while Pella Is 30 lbs lighter at a not to small 190. WILSONS NUMBER IS 64 67. 66 and Smiths ' None of the three played guard while at Box Elder and Pella Pellas and Smith didnt even play in the line. Smith was a fullback, Pella a tailback and Wilson was a tackle. Pella played two years for Dixie college before transfer ing to USU and while there played and received Jr. College All America honors at fullback. He also Joes all the extra points and field goal kicking for the Aggies a trait hes just pick, ed up the past two years. Smith and Wilson received All.State first team honors at fullback and tackle respectively while on the Bee roster. UTAH STATE CAN BET THE YOU Bob Cats would like nothing better, though, than marring the Bees no loss record and you can also bet the Bees will be going after this one full tilt just for the satisfaction of proving they really are the best In the region. It may be tough to prove, how. ever. Skyvlew, the combination of last years region champion South Cache, and an always tough North Cache had their problems at the start of the season, as might be expected when you combine two rival factions. But they have Jelled and their win over Bear River 280 shoulc Indicate It. Running the Skyvlew offensive Will Have SENIORS CHRIS PELLA and Veran Smith, both playing left guard and left linebacker for the Aggies will see sophomore Grant Wilson across the line at middle guard when the Cougars are on defense. Smith and Pella go both ways for the Aggies, that Is they play both offense and defense, and the two are having quite a battle over the starting position, Pella who has been second string behind Smith all year got a starting position last week when Smith missed the Colorado State game with a sprained ankle. Smith will be back for the Cougar game but it looks like he Is going to have to win 'his starting birth back since Pella Is still listed as first string and Smith at second. The Box Elder Bees will play the first of what undoutedly will turn out to be a real rivalry, Friday, when they Invade the new North Cache.South Cache combined school, Skyvlew, at Smlthfleld. This Is not to say that the first of these games wont be a real rivalry because all In. dlcatlons point to a real hard fought contest. The game wont count much In the region standings, however, since Box Elder already has the Region One championship all tied up. 1II is a 170 lb. left handed quar. terback named Obray, who according to BE Coach Les can run and pass with Dun, He was first team the best. for South Cache last year. At fullback Is a 175 lb. sen. lor, Yonk, who also was a regular for South Cache last year and according to the Dees scouting report will be tough to contend with. The left halfback In Sky. views variable T tormation is the fastest man on the team, Carlson, who is rated as a good runner, a good pass re. ceiver and extremely fast. THE RIGHT HALFBACK, Lofthouse, is rated as a good blocker and real strong. He Is the man Skyvlew hands off to most of the potent variable T weapon the dive play. Best Skyvlew lineman Is their right tackle number 75, Hall He Is listed at an even 200 lbs. Skyvlew likes Defensively, the 63 with two men deep, and they use one, two and three-foo- t splits in their offensive line. From here It looks like a real fine game and those Bee fans not making the trip to Smlthfleld are going to miss a good one. Game time will be 3 p.m. Friday. This weeks prediction of the outcome, (and by the way weve hit the last two on the nose) sees Box Elder coming out on top of the score by 13 points. Theyll have to be ready to earn every one of them, however. News-Journ- Brian. Grant Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Wilson, 267 N. 10 East, Brigham City. Ver. T 5 ini n". by B. F. GLADDING Lead In The Head ! USE A LEAD CORE line for fly fishing? Sounds crazy, but a shooting head of lead core line is the answer to deep water fly fishing. The secret lies in a unique; line called the Mark Five Special, 9 product of B. F. Gladding & Co., Inc., of South Otselic, New Yor the only lead cort line on tl& ? market with a hard, glossy finish. A 30-fshooting head of this line in 18 pound test will balance the action of the powerful rod needed for this business. This should be smoothly spliced to as much 20 to 30 pound test monofilament as is needed for running line. Splice a short length of the same to the opposite end and build up leaders from that. Don't false cast. Work the head clear of the guides and strip monofilament from the reel for the shoot. Make a single back cast, beef into it with the rod and turn the shooting line loose. The lead core head will take off with the speed of an arrow, carrying an amazing yardage of monofilament behind it on the "shoot. But the real objective is to get the fly usually a streamer -down to the fish. The lead head quickly does that, permitting you retrieves to make in really deep water. To make your next cast the easy way, pick up the lead core line for a roll cast, as illustrated.
