Show Fitness A Report to the Nation." THE FILM Is a documented story of what is being done and of the need for more programs of health and physical education in the schools. in President Kennedy appears the film expressing his deep concern for the nation's fitness. Presenting the report is Charles B. special consul(Bud) Wilkinson, tant to the president on youth fitness, and director of athletics and head football coach at the University of Oklahoma. Every community has the kind of educational system that its citizens are willing to provide. In the final analysis, they decide on the curriculum, the quality of teaching, and the extent of the physical plant. This film is a case report of how one city realized that its physical education program was inadequate, and began to do something about ft. The motion picture is credited by the United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare as being the best motion picture on the subject of youth fitness in existence today. IT IS CERTAINLY hoped that every parent will have the time and the opportunHy to see this film, so pertinent to every parent and teachers responsibilities. Downs served on Professor Eisenhower's physical President fitness committee, has been active in professional physical education organizations, and has done extensive work in extension classes on elementary physical education. She is eminently qualified to speak on this subject and is renowned as an authority on youth physical fitness. This program promises to be rewarding and entertaining for the parents, and we hope, profitable (or the children. ' Because of the importance of this subject to the entire commun ity, and the excellence of the program scheduled, Principal J. D. Gunderson has extended an invitation to the Mayor and members of the city council to attend. Space permitting, officers of neighboring PTA organizations and civic leaders in the community will be extended a similar invitation folattendance" lowing a planned survey to be conducted by Princo- - paf Gunderson later this weak. THIS SPLENDID evening has been planned through the fine committee work of Mr. and Mrs. Oiof Zundel. Prayer will be offered by the Rev. Earl S. Fox. The Hospitality committee for the evening will consist of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Parsons and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Reese. Mrs. Dale Madsen, president of the Central school PTA, urges every parent to reserve Monday evening to enable them and their children to receive the benefits of this program.
