PINEAPPLE GRAPEFRUIT .1 9 Many Box Elder county residents have a misunderstanding about the new retirement test for ac-- I social security beneficiaries, cording to Jay M. Hansen, repre-- i sentative of the Ogden district social security office, who will be at the local employment office on 'Thursday, Feb. 2, from 10 a. m. until noon, and 1 to 4 p. m. Hansen explained that many persons think they can earn $1500 in 1961 and still get all of their benefit checks. This is not true. A social security beneficiary may still get all of his or her benefit checks if total 1961 earnings do not exceed $1200. There has been no change in this part of the Social Security law. The manner and amount of social security benefits which may be withheld from ben-- 1 eficiaries who earn more than $1200 has been changed. THE NEW method UNDER of for earnings adjusting benefits over $1200 in a year, a beneticiary cannot lose more in social security benefits than the amount of his earnings in excess of $1200. This retirement test does not apply to beneficiaries who receive checks because of a disability.
