Show Years of Searching Finally Unites Former Brigham Woman and Sister n Forty-Seve- The year 1956 will forever be remembered in the life of Mrs. Jennie Compton Miller, 1810 N. 51st street, Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Miller Just recently found a sister from whom she was separated 47 years ago. Forty-seveyears ago. Dec. 23, 1909,. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Compton, Brigham City, took into their home a little four year-olgirl, whose parents had separated. June - 28, 1910 they legally adopted the little Miss and renamed her Jennie Dalton Compton. All Mrs. MillCr remembers of tfye change now is a vague recollection of loads of nice toys, dolls, and cute little dresses. The years passed happily and as the child grew she heard rumors of the adoption. Her foster mother then told her that it was true they had adopted her and that she had a sister of her very own whose name was Rose. Mrs. Compton assured Jennie that she had come from nice n d people, but naturally did not disclose names or places. It was after the death of Mrs. Compton that her brother, Mathew Compton, told her it was his mothers wish that she have the adoption papers. It was from these papers she learned that her parents were Melinda Allred and Frank Chop-pihand that her birthplace was Provo. She then began her search for her own people through the Genealogical Society at Provo. Through remarriage by her grandmother following the death of her grandfather, James Henry Allred, it was impossible to continue without the new name. A nephew, a newspa- reading per, was attracted to the name Chopping in a wedding performed in the St. George temple. This again led Mrs. Miller to discouragement. By this time she had married Harvey Miller, Tremonton, and the following years were busy with rearing a family of six chib Journal SIIERIDAN, Yyo. ..CU?)-- Nek born Richie Thiesens name Brigham City, Utah Friday, November 9, 1956 might suggest that her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Thiesen, BEHS better understand the problems were expecting a boy.
