TO OUR MANY FRIENDS season s By JoAnn Long The Box Elder County Commissioners will meet Tuesday, Jan. 3, rather than Monday, Jan. 2, which has been declared a legal holiday, was the decision made at the last meeting of the Commission held Dec. 19. IRosel Zundel, C Elder High school cappella choir presented two outstanding assemblies to the Junior and Senior divisions at Box Elder High school on Tues, day, December 20. The 1955-5choir undeT the direction of J. Earl Johnston began working together last summer. It has made a great deal of progress since it was organized, and the students seemed to realize that they were hearing an exceptional assembly. The program consisted of the following numbers 'sung by the Tochoir: Give Me a Song, "Have day There is Ringing, Now Mercy Upon Me, O God, As a Thank We All Our God, Snow White Swan, Thank the God Lord Its Friday, and Rock My Soul in the Bosom of Abraham. The latter two songs were a Negro spirituals and added good deal of life to the assembly. Special numbers were presented by: Eda Rae Anderson, Diane Meacham, Pamele Richards, Mary Jo Harris, Francell Biown, Marilyn Mann, Blaine Hunsaker, Wesley Boman, Cheryl Palmer, Mickey Harmon, Dallas Stokes, and Byron Madsen For the concluding number on the program, Genevieve Burt and JoAnn Long played a violin obligato as the choir and congregation sang Silent Night. The choir accompanist, - Mrs. Margaret Johnsen, is helping to The Box a W. 6 Boflrne, Gordon Petty and R. Sterling Burton requested that the county oil the road which commences at Highway 191 in Plymouth thence west one mile, past Rozel Zundels, thence south one mile, thence east one mile back to Highway 191. These men stated that there are three milk routes and one school bus which travels these three miles of road. The men stated they felt the east and west roads should have the priority if the work cannot be accomplished all at one time. The Commissioners stated they would give it consideration t Bishop Smith Rose and Colen Petersen, representing the LDS Third ward, reIn oiling quested assistance the parking area north of the ward chapel and a portion of the road north of the church grounds. The ward will haul the gravel in the near future and the county will assist wtith it he oiling when doing other oiling work in that vicinity. Leslie Mills, Alfred Hansen, Ralph Forsgren and Julius H. Campbell requested that the county oil the Alfred Hansen-RoForsgren road west of a distance of one mile needing the oil. The Commissioners stated that they will consider it when planning the road work for 1956. The county road supervisor reported that the road workmen had asked him to discuss with the commissioners the possibility of their getting a raise in salary. After some di9cussdon, the Commissioners stated they would like very much to grant the increase in salary but because the income of a majority of the taxpayers in our county is down, and with the farmers having difficult times, they did not feel justified in increasing salaries in the face of this situation, but if conditions improved during the next season, they will consider it The County Assessor was authorized to hire Evan Gee for the portion of the year he is needed to assess improvemenlts within the county; the rate of pay to be $300 per month. n y Willard to Hear Christmas Cantata As a climax to the Christmas Chimes festivities, a cantata, of the Holy Night Will be presented Sunday evening, Dec. 25, in the Willard ward chapel under the direction of J. W. Pulsipher. The faculty and situdents of the school and members of the community have so far been honored on two occasions with the presentation of this most perforappropriate Christmas mance. in The students participating the cantata under the expert leadership of Mr. Pulsipher have done a magnificent job of preparing the program.
