January 15, 1954 in 1908, pubA weekly newspaper, established lished every Friday and entered as Second Class Matter at the post office in Brigham City, Utah, un(f-- r the act of March 8, 1879. peaking u , The staff of this newspaper has been coming apart at the seams this week so if you feel the product is not up to its usual standard? and need an excuse, listen to my tale of woe. Already one staff member short, Gladys Johnson went to the hospital last Sunday for an emergency operation. Shes back home now, recuperating and doing very nicely. Then Arch Goss, Linotype operator, took the flu or some kindred ailment, and has been off all week. He came back on the job Thursday, to help some with this edition. The few remaining healthy members of the staff have had to redouble their efforts while Mrs. C. has been drafted into service. It seems we have a brand new crisis every week. . t ,f If j I , , I was supposed And this was the week-en- d to have made a talk to the National Editorial association at Chandler, Ariz., at the midwinter convention, I dont believe I am going to make it. Winston Nelson and I have been having fun this week judging Idaho newspaper entries in their annual contest for the best use of photographs. So far, weve worked it y down to a tie for first place Unless we can figure out some other basis for judging, we may have to draw straws. five-wa- Mayor C. BUM HAMILTON DRUGS he designated It is little enough to do for a fine bunch of young men, to pay tribute to them for their hard work and constant effort, and that is why the week has been so designated. The organization has the enthusiasm of youth, something that is lacking in the older and more conservative service groups. They dont know a project cant be done, as we oldsters are prone to observe. And so, they just go ahead and do it. Every community needs a group of young men like the Jaycees and Brigham City is indeed fortunate in having them. Theyll tackle anything if all it takes to put it over is hard work. Would you believe it . she's started drinking . . 3 she's my age? They say glasses of MILK a day!
