Hazel Kaiser seeks apologies City urges action on airport zoning A lack of progress toward zoning around the Brigham City airport Thursday prompted city officials to urge Box Elder County commissioners to take action in the matter. Councilman Dale Baron said the airport advisory committee was concerned about the lag. Air zoning around the airport has been accomplished. But similar action on the ground has not moved ahead as had been anticipated. On Councilman Barons motion, the city council voted to send a letter to the commissioners, expressing a desire to progress made on zoning to protect future use the expansion of the airport. And to tell them if we can cooperate or speed things up in any way, well be happy to do so, Baron added. In other business at a regular weekly council meeting Thursday, the former director of the senior citizens program here demanded apologies from Mayor Harold B. Felt and council members for the way she was treated when her resignation was accepted last spring. Mrs. Hazel Kaiser said she did not request an audience with the council to regain her job or to cause trouble, but she did feel a need to defend her rights and principles. In still other business: Rob Bishop and LaRae Garfield were named as new members of the community theatre board. Council Wayne Jones was officially named to succeed Councilman Doug Wight as council representative on the city planning commission. I truly felt this is abusing his political powers. My resignation could have been quietly disposed of and I could have continued doing the good job that I had been doing, Mrs. Kaiser said in a prepared statement. I will not go down in the history of Brigham City as being pitied for what the city government has done to me unjustly, she stated. She added further that the city officials not only owed her an apology but the many senior citizens who signed petitions asked The council adopted a resolution barring banners for commercial entities from being hung overvMain street, declaring that "signs or banners upon or across public property wpuld. be reserved exclusively for public purposes. The council declined to give its official' support to efforts to establish Channel 9 as a commercial television station in Ogden. Council members were given copies of a police department manual of policies, rules and regulations for study. The council said okay for Burton e charter Brokaw to operate a service from the city airport. Janiel Wall was approved as a clerk in the city court at a starting salary of $510 per month. 'Rocket' Sheriff Candidates (Continued from Page One) there is one! That is exactly what happened when the project committee began shopping for their rocket, says Chairman JoAnn Butler. The company had two rockets on a close-ou- t sale, at a savings of almost $1000 on each. She was tempted to buy both, but knew that was impossible in the project budget and hurried to place an order for one before the bargain was snapped up by someone else. Total cost of the rocket was $2100 including freight charges from the factory in Minnesota. Those funds were raised by club members in their annual community birthday calendar sale, except for $250 donated by Thiokol corporation in support of the project. Cooperaton of the city parks and recreation departments saved the club another $650 in installation fees, so the rocket was really a bargain. Every club member is involved in the calendar sales, adds Mrs. Butler, so the project represents a combined effort of many volunteers and of city employess. The letter was written at the time of contoversy over Mrs. Kaisers resignation, a resignation which she submitted one day (March 14) and asked to have withdrawn the next. But the council instead acted to accept it.
