Rasmussen Nels Peter Rasmussen Jr., 86, or Rt. 2, Tremonton, a former resident of Corinne, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 1977 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing home of causes incident to age. He was born Jan. 23, 1891 in Bear River City, the son of Niels Peder Rasmussen Sr., and Marie Magdalena Henriksen. He married Olga Molinda Chlarson on Feb. 6, 1918 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS temple on May 25, 1923. She died Sept. 29, 1973. He married Connie Jensen Giles on Jan. 28, 1976 in the Ogden LDS temple. He had lived at Sublette, Idaho, Bear River City and resided in Corinne from 1939 to January of 1976 when he moved to Tremonton. He was a high priest in the Tremonton Third ward, a home teacher, and was on the Old Folks committee of the Corinne ward. He was a retired dairy and crop farmer. Survivors include his widow of Tremonton; two sons and a daughter, N. Warren Rasmussen of Shoshone, Idaho; Phil C. Rasmussen and Mrs. Lelan A. (Alice) Davis, both of Corinne; 23 great11 grandchildren, grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Raynel Rasmussen of Burley, Idaho; Rasmussen of Corinne; Weldon Rasmussen of Perry; Japanese goodbye was the theme of a special event held Thursday evening, Aug. 18, at the Solid Rock center as 12 Japanese high school students honored the local families who had been their hosts for the past three weeks. It was the climax of a busy day for the students and their advisor, Kenji Yamazaki. They had shopped, prepared and then served traditional Japanese dishes and planned a brief program for their American families. The closeness and goodwill that had built up during the students three-weestay was evident in the noise and laughter that accompanied the dinner, along with the busy flash of cameras as families had pictures taken with their students. What did the Japanese students think of American life? Almost all were surprised at the activity level of the average American family, finding the k Nels P. Burial in the Bear River City cemetery. constant Gerald Robert Hess, 62, of 186 West Austin, Garland, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1977, at Bear River Valley hospital in Tremonton of cancer. He was born Nov. 19, 1914, in Plymouth, a son of Ervin and Zella Nish Hess. He was reared and educated in Bear River valley. He married Florence Bowcutt on April 1, 1940, in Brigham City. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS temple on May 18, 1951. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Utah State Road commission, He was a member of the Garland Volunteer Fire department for the past 20 years. He was an elder in the Garland Second LDS ward. More than 300 Utah students and their parents attended either of two sessions of the seventh annual ACT Scholars Breakfasts, held Aug. 10 and 17 in the Union Ballroom. Butler and natural Mrs. Builer was born Nov. 6, in Cartcrville, III., a daughter of James Dudley and Mary Jane Huddleston Beasley. On July 17, 1905, she was married to John William Butler in Ogden. He died in January of 1952. She moved to Ogden at four years of age. Two years later she mov ed to Hooper, where she attended Hooper schools for her odu ation. She was a long time resident of Willard, having lived there ov or 50 years. She had also lived -- on Nev. She was a member of the LDS church. She had been a member of the Willard First ward where she was a Relief society teacher for many years. She was a member of the Hooper fourth 1883 attractions. Favorites Duboise,. Idaho, Ely, ward. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Jack Herbert Butler, Willard; Mrs. Grant (Fva) Douglas, Ogden; four grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel with Bishop Merrill Widdison officiating. Interment in Hooper cemetery. The Utah Highway Patrol reported Juanita Christensen of 336 West Fourth North, was hurt when she was run off the road while avoiding another vehicle about 3:54 p.m. Troopers said a car driven by Mary Woodyatt Resse of 230 South Fifth East, Brigham City, was northbound on the freeway when the driver fell asleep, driving onto the right shoulder. The woman overcorrected, came across both lanes of traffic and ran the Christensen car off the road. The Christensen vehicle overturned in the me. dian. A passenger in the overturned car, Jamie Amons, received a bruised hip, troopers said. Mrs. Reese did not receive injuries, they reported. Brigham City; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Hearing date set in case of theft at Elks An Ogden man is scheduled for arraignment in First District Court on a felony theft count. David Cable, 32, waived preliminary hearing in Brigham City court and will be arraigned in district court on Aug. 29, according to Brigham City poPolice said Cable is charged connection with the theft of nearly $2,000 from the Elks club in Brigham City.
