Shelly Dawn Greene, newborn daughter of Charles David (Chuck) and Mary Ellen Jensen Greene of Bear River City, died Friday, April 22, 1977, shortly after birth at the McKay-De- e hospital in Ogden of prematur- - fcrsday pas eno ofl OGiase days by Marlene M. Harper Have you ever had one of those days, you dont want to remember, but you know youll never forget? I did April 15. It started with a bang when I fell out of bed. I was in a hurry to finish the Corinne Comments and take them to the Box Elder News-Journa- l. I took my poor jammed typewriter out of the library and tried fixing it, mistakenly believing if we tightened a certain screw, all would be well.. My husband broke the screw. Well, we finally got another typewriter, which we did get working, once the ribbon that had fallen out was untwisted and rewound. In time the article was done. I packed it, our ten month old Alan and his two year old friend Kim Hendrickson into the old blue car. The only thing I forgot was my keys. Didnt Budge As I turned the old door knob on our Harper centennial house, it didnt budge. Kim had locked the door. After a series of trials and errors, we did get the car keys. Off to the News Journal we went, happy at last. We really had to hurry however, because I had to meet Mrs. Roselle Henrie at the library. It was regarding costumes for the family play Please, Dont Sneeze yours truly is directing at the Heritge age Theatre. Then we had to meet Marvin Moon at the post office regarding the casting. We left the Journal office piled into the car, turned on the ignition and nothing happened. Except that Old Blue rolled down the parking grade and into the middle of the road. I had floored the brakes, but they didnt respond because they were power brakes. Sportingly, Mike Perry and Bruce Keyes helped push the car off to the side of the road. Then I started on a series of wild goose chases. First up to the bank, in a fruitless hope of seeing my husband Jerry at- - Greene City; grandparents, Mrs. Lois Greene of Delta; Mr. and Mrs. Vay S. Early Lunch We arrived just in time to learn Mr. Moon was given an unexpected early lunch. He had literally just walked out the back door, as we were walking in the front door and were waiting to get to the counter in the long income tax line-upA little after two p.m. Mrs. Delores Harper, my mother-in-law- , came with her mother who she had had lunch, Mrs. Alta Craner, and the mechanic Far-riHill. What a rescue team. They laughed at the series of events that had taken place. And Delores who always sees s. el things rather optimistically said, Well at least you have your newspaper article for next week. She was right because the rest of the day proceeded to unfold in similar annoying and incredible patterns. It was if the earthly elements had joined together to have some good sport at my expense. Can you believe it? Number two typewriter broke down this week! ! Now that we have a working typewriter, lets go back to Easter for a moment. Mr. and Mrs. George Welch and family enjoyed company from Montpelier, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Terry and Hope Welch and child. Were Invaded At 9:30 by Monday morning Rulon and Karen Smoot were invaded by President Haycock, the Seventies president from Ogden and 26 hard working missionarires looking for a good time. It was the elders zone outing and they came to the right place for fun, Corinne. They played softball at the baseball diamond on the West Corinne rodeo grounds. Then they went to Lloyd Hubbards for a fast game of tennis and football. While lunch was being prepared, they returned to the Smoot home and played volleyball. After they dinned on chicken lunch, which many Corinne neighbors helped furnish, the missionaries visited and sang to Ann Normans piano playing. Before returning to their labors, some missionaries went to the Craners ancient barn to swing on the legendary swing. A great time was had by all. Sister Flans had girl friends visiting for April conference from Australia, who dropped in at the Smoots. They gave the festivities a colorful accent. It was sad news for Corinne to learn that our fired-uJewish lady missionary, Sister Flans had been transferred Thursday to BYU campus. She has had 30 baptisms in her six months in the area. And her many friends in Corinne will miss her and her Brooklyn dialect. At the beginning of April, Elder Ben Ferry, who is serving in the El Salvador mission was transferred to the border city of La Union, Pondores. p , Parewre number f tfc Bear River LD$ ward.
