And its always good both the food and the entertainment. This past Friday brought a special treat, however, as the seniors ans some special guests had a visit from Santa Claus. The jolly old gent tinkled his bells, led the audience of nearly 200 in songs and handed out candy treats to everyone (with some help from his local elves who were disguised as police officers). That wasnt all. A talented professor of music from Utah State university, Dr. Warren Burton, kept the crowd in laughs and admiration with his humor and musicianship. Among other things, Dr. Burton, acdaughter, companied by his Denise, played a flute with his nose, performing also on the violin and cello. And as if this werent enough, Mayor Harold B. Felt joined Dr. Burton on the violin for a medley of carols to climax the show. It was all planned and carried off by the police department which arranges for one program a month at the senior center. This is our way of saying thanks to these folks for the help they give us in our crime prevention program, Cheif Steve Studdert said. Assisting were Sgt. Sheridan Nelson, Kim Hadfield, Leola Larsen and DelRay (the one with the white beard and bells), all of the police department. In addition, a special honor was paid to Mrs. Hazel Kaiser, director of the local senior program. She received a certificate of appreciation from Mayor Felt and Chief Studdert for outstanding and exemplary service to law enforcement on behalf of the citizens of Brigham City and members of the police department. Woodland The center was only the first stop for Santa and his helpers. They later visited Pioneer Memorial and Godfrey Nursing homes and shut-in- s around town to bring them some holiday cheer.
