Its called Get the President and lots of folks seem favored to its practice. With some assistance from President Ford himself, the critics have managed to shoot down his halo and now are working to reshape his image as a fumbling bench warmer moved up to the varsity who We either through skulduggery or inaptitude is not doing a very good job as the countrys chief executive. From our point of view, however, Mr. Ford is the same honest, sincere and able man who entered the White House recently as the 38th president. Hes not infallible by any means, but hes a capable leader inbued with a sincere determination to do right. WE ARE NOT totally in accord with the Presidents pardon of his predecessor, Richard M. Nixon, at least not at this time. As a majority of Americans are reported to feel, the pardon was premature. We are fully confident, however, that President Fords decision was prompted by compassion and a desire to ease out of the Watergate mess as painlessly as possible. The only hitch is that while Mr. Nixon is imune from prosecution, others implicated in Watergate have been convicted or are awaiting trial. At the same time, those who cry that the judicial system has been dealt a disfiguring blow are overreacting. We would like to thank all those who gave their tremendous support to make this rodeo a success. I personally would like to give special credit to the members of the two rodeo clubs and their sponsors, Annette Adams of the BE High club and Stan Stark and Orlin Allen of the Flying I club. These kids held up the tough competition spirit and winning tradition. The Flying I club and sponsors deserve a real big thank you for the fine job they did in constructing the rodeo arena. It is one of the best in our part of the country. It will be a benefit to the community for many years. Thanks to Val Leavitt for his always top job behind the mike, Annett Adams for a fine job handling the paper work. To the staff at Intermountain and the great work of our Chamber of Commerce. Also a big thanks to the city water department for helping to keep the dust down. Also to Principal Nicholas of Box Elder High and Stan Speaks of Intermountain, thanks, for without their support there would be no high school rodeo clubs here in Brigham City. Some who helped and made all this possible didnt get their names in print but a big thanks to them as they know who they are. Gene Schiffler, Box Elder High Rodeo club advisor Enjoyed paper, but . . . OFF TO WATERLOO... Editor: I am serving a mission for the LDS church from the Nineteenth ward in Brigham City, and have been out about 15 months. During the first year of my mission, I received the Box Elder News & Journal regularly, and enjoyed it very much. My companions would often read the paper, too, whether they were from Utah or not. It is a very special thing for a missionary to get home town news. I only know of one other place that does it. A few months ago my papers mysteriously stopped coming, which could have been due to a mix-u- p along the line in my present change of address. If possible, I would love to receive the papers at this address: Elder Glenn E. Dickey 12 Potter Road North Haven, Connecticut 06473 Sincerely yours, Elder Glenn E.
