Show March of Dimes Helps BE The March of Dimes cam paign in Box Eider county helped a Mantua couple pay hospital bills recently after they lost their newborn infant due to a birth defect. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Hansen this week thanked all the people in Box Elder county who contributed to the March of Scholars Gain 4-H Awards Sunday, May 7, 972 1 Better Understanding Couple Dimes campaign. They said, we couldn't have done it without help. The Hansens son was born about seven weeks premature on Jan. 28. He was immediately tranferred to the Intermountain Newborn Intensive Care unit at the University of Utah Medical center. About 42 hours later the child died. The bill came to $505 and the Hansen had no medical insurance. The March of Dimes paid for the total hospital costs. Contestants are competing for more than $125,000 worth of scholarships and awards. They are Cleo W. Tolman, Honeyvllle, and Leonard M. Petersen Jr., Tremonton, chosen as alternate winner. The announcement was made by Glenn Baird, supervisor of Youth Programs, Utah State university extension. The scholarships are awarded annually to one student from each county and are to be used at Utah State univeslty, Snow college or Southern Utah State college. The recipient must enroll in agriculture, home economics or a closely related subject. Applicants for the scholarships must be seniors in high members for at school, and least three years.
