As I was hurrying about Wednesday evening getting ready for Thanksgiving, I was shocked to see the Christmas lights turned on on Main street and then still the day before Thanksgiving. The last straw came as I went to work Thanksgiving evening and passed by a residence all lighted up with Christmas lights and decorations. Is it too much to be old fashioned enough or square enough to at least want to see Thanksgiving past before Christmas season is ushered in??? Little children now days seem to think Thanksgiving means that Santa is iust around the corner. How many really know the meaning of our good old fashioned Thanksgiving.???? Checketts, Brigham City, was sentenced to 10 days in the Box Elder county jail after being found guilty of maintaining a public nuisance. The court suspended the jail sentence when Checketts paid a $75 fine and placed him on six months probation. Cruiz Garza Nunez, 26, PO Box 264, Corinne, was sentenced to pay $50 or serve 25 days for their letters. Without the return address, the child cannot be assured of an answer from Santa and parents are asked to help in seeing that the address appears both on the letter and the envelope. In order for the letter to get to Santa and receive a reply, it must be mailed by Dec. 22, according to project chairman Mrs. Sandra Carlson and director member Mrs. Nancy Beeton.
