Other league warm up games saw the Bees dump Bear River 7 and 15-they split with Davis Bees, and 8.5 Darts, and they lost to Ben Lomond Some league games did get played Friday with Ogden and Weber, and Bonneville and Ben Lomond both tying at the end of six before the rain moved In and Bear River scuttled Sky. at the end of six. View The scores will stand and the ties will not be played off unless they make a difference In the final outcome. Box Elder Coach Vernal Har-rl- s has one of his finest hitting and fielding teams to sport the school colors In several years but his pitching doesnt reach as deep. Good depth and experience Is seen In both the Infield and outfield with some twelve returning from last years team. The league will be extra tough this year, however, and Harris feels that all possible experience will be needed. Tops as a blocking back under Wallace Wade at Duke from 1939 to 1941, Tommy was winner of the Jacobs Award as the best blocker In the East and played In Duke. Originally a native of Memphis, Tenn., where his parents reside, the new Bruin head coach was a four-spor- t star at Memphis Central High school and at Riverside Military in Nashville. During World War II he saw three years of Navy duty as an officer. This was followed by a year as line coach at Western Kentucky and three seasons as backfleld coach under the late Red Sanders at Vanderbilt. He moved with Sanders to UCLA In 1949 and served through 1954 before moving on to Ore-go- hunt-ln- g soft-textur- ed n State.
