Left to right, Ford Jeppson, principal at Bear River Junior High school; Norman H. Jeppson, school board president, and Harold B. Felt, school board vice president. OUR READERS WRITE Dear Mr. Claybaugh: We have been going to write and thank you for sending us the Box Elder newspapers. One cannot express the satisfaction and joy we have received through our paper. When one is away the news from home is so much more important. We look forward to each edition, although it is late, we still love to read the news about the folks at home. We were in Hawaii, Box 32, Laie, but now we have been transferred to Australia. Our new address is 46 Ijong street, A.C.T., Canberra, Australia. We are enjoying our mission very much. The chapel that is to be built here will be a future stake house, and one of the largest in Australia. The Saints right now are meeting in the Y.W.C.A. This chapel will be a great missionary and a great help. The people of Australia are wonderful and very religious Press, Police Agree Need To Cooperate Expressing a mutual understanding of each others problems, law enforcement officers and representatives of the press Thursday agreed that officers and reporters should cooperate in crime investigation and reporting. Remarks centering around this theme were heard during a panel discussion winding up a three-da- y investigaburglary tion course for northern Utah law enforcement personnel in Brigham City. Sheriff Warren W. Hyde acted as moderator with Ray Nelson, Logan Herald Journal; Hoyt Palmer, Ogden Standard Examiner; Police Chief Julian R. Green, Roy, and Chief Brian people. on We miss Brigham City but Mottishaw, Layton, sitting the panel. the newspaper is a wonderful letter that comes to us without HYDE in leading off a discus fail. Acknowledging that reporters have deadlines to meet, Chief Mottishaw opined that they can best cooperate by staying in the background until the officer can break away from his investigation to give the story. THE FACT that so many news media want facts of a crime happening right away creates a problem which newsmen should try to understand, Chief Green declared. Speaking from the audience, Utah Sackett, Sgt. William Highway patrol, stated briefly that he felt law enforcement should be one big family with the press included in it. The three-daschool was conducted in the War Memorial home under auspices of the Utah Peace Officers association. Experts from various law enforcement agencies conducted sessions covering various phases of burglary investigation. HUGE 0!!CE-A-YEA- for, the entire course is $10.
