Elder Johnson, 19. is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis L. Johnson of Perry. He is a graduate of Box Elder High school and for the past two years has been employed with Fife Construction company of Brigham City. He will enter the church mission home in Salt Lake City on Jan. 7 and plans to depart for the mission field a week later on Jan. 14. Talbot, superinten dent of schools in Box Elder county, was elected chairman of the Birdhaven District, Boy scouts of America, at a reorganization meeting last week. Elected to work with Talbot were C. Richard Baker, vice chairman, and Frank Dallon, district commissioner. The meeting was held Dec. 17 at In termountain school. were Scouters Eight local elected to serve as directors--at-larg- e of the Birdhaven district. They are Earl Gray, Lewis S. Wight, Loudell Reese, Sam Gordon, Thad Carlson, Frank Wright, Dr. William Herb Noble. Knudsun, and Others will be added to this list, according to Scout officials. Talbot now fills the position held by Aubry previously Moody. Other retiring officers include Reed Bingham, former commissioner, and Dave former vice chairman. Work is now planned by the district officials on six operating committees, including camping and activities: health and safety; leadership traiing; organization and extension; advancement; and finance. Activities now scheduled by the district are listed as follows: Gill-mor- Ernest Roberts, representative of the Ogden social security office, will be at the Utah State Employment office on Thursday, Jan. 3, 1963, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. to assist Box Eider county residents. Roberts stated that many peo- ple past retirement age who are still working may be losing cash social security retirement benefits because they have not applied for them. He said changes in the law in 1960 and 1961 permit many older people to get social security payments even though they are still working. Before the changes, an older person who earned over $2,080 during the year couldnt get any social security benefits. Now, the same worker may get some benefit payments. Anyone who has reached age 65 and who hasnt talked with the social security folks should get in touch with the representative on January 3rd. to find out how the changes affect him, Roberts advised.
