Valentine of Provo, where he is visiting for a short time. As the oldest resident of Brigham City, the elder Valentine can recall when every business house in Main street was erected, and he served on the city council or in public otfice when many of them took form. BORN IN Brigham City, on Nov. 15, 1867, to Valentine Valentinsen and Hannah Benson, the young man attended Brigham City schools and spent one winter at the old Brigham Young College in Logan. He married Sarah Bathsheba Merrell in the Logan LDS temple in 1888, and the couple had five Mrs. children. Valentine and three of the children died in 1895. Following a mission for the LDS church in Sweden, he married Ottolina Bengtson in 1900 and the couple had seven children. They were also wed in the Logan LDS temple. She died in 1952. . DURING HIS many years. Patriarch Valentine worked as a farmer and fruit grower and managed the Brigham City Fruit Growers. He was always close to the people and served in various civic positions including county clerk, city marshal and city In the LDS church, councilman. he was a member of the bishopric for 26 years and served as bishop of the Second LDS ward for eight years.
