However, starting simultaneously with the waterfowl season was an extended hunt for chukar and hungarian partridge throughout the state. Box Elder county in particular is one of the more promising areas tor these sporty upland game birds. The hunt continues this year through Nov. 20 for Bag and possession limits each species are three and six birds, respectively Either sex are legal game. The chukar is more prevalent over the state and can be found in large numbers in Box Elder county. Little Mountain and Howell valley are two of the better spots to try. They will seldom be found on highly cultivated lands, prefering the marginal lands adjacent to rough, hilly country. WHEN approached, the chukar likes to run rather than fly uphill and gunners readily find that the best method of hunting after the birds are located by sight or call is to get above them before closing in. They set well for dogs, especially after coveys are flushed and scattered. 'The earlier partridge hunts weie Utah Fish and Game department this year to give added opportunity for upland game bird hunters to enjoy this season set by the during October when field conditions are usually most pleasant and alter field checks showed good populations of chukars in most sections of the state. Hunters are advised to check with the conservation officer in this area, Darrell Nish, Perry, to obtain add'tional information about the chukar and wher they might be found A businessman was telling his friend about the host ot worries plaguing him, declaring, Theyre beginning to smother me, dozens closing in from all sides Thing for you to do, consoled the friend, to simplify is by lumping the related ones.
