The home of a Corinne widow, Mrs. Pearl Cheney, was completely gutted Thursday when a fire broke out apparently due to faulty wiring near a television set. The blaze also destroyed several gifts stored y in the upstairs of the dwelling. Damages from the blaze were estimated to exceed $5,000, firemen said. The local fire department was summoned at 5:30 p.m., however the fire had enveloped the entire living .room when they arrived at the scene. They fought the fire for more than three hours before it could be brought under control. The fire was confined to the front portion of the home. However, extreme heat, smoke and water damages caused a total loss of furnishings and fixtures. The Christmas gifts stored in the upstairs room were counted a complete loss. They belonged to a and his family. Mrs. Cheney, being made homeless by the blaze, is staying with a daughter and her family, who reside in Corinne. The house was partially covered by insurance, she reports.
