Howes, 597 North First West, was presented the award by Col. S. N. Gilmon who noted that the Brigham City man has accumulated more years of government services 39 than any other employee at the Ogden installation. Thirty-on- e years were spent in the Navy. Howes retired from naval service in April 1947, and went to work at the depot in August of that same year. There were two other men of the depots 1,800 employees r who received citations. A Chasing burglars as the climax to a date may not be considered routine but thats what a Brigham City man had occa-tioto do about 1 a. m. Saturday. Eddie Brightenburg, 20, was girl home accompanying when they noticed two men attempting to break into her fathers dairy next door. The would-b- e burglars spotted Bnghten-buralso and took off running through a nearby orchard with the local man in pursuit. When the twosome reached a parked car, they dropped their loot consisting of $30 worth of eggs, cheese, butter and marger-inand continued on foot in the daikness. Brightenburg decided to stand guard over the auto. Meanwhile, the girl, Merle Reeder, daughter of Mr. and Mis. Wallace V. Reeder, 435 East Fifth North, had summoned the police. Officers arrived at the scene in time to apprehend one of the alleged culprits who had decided to return and give himself up. He was identified as George Stalter, 22, New Jersey. The second person, a Brigham City youth, was taken into custody the following morning, and turned over to juvenile authorities. Stalter was tried in city court Monday where he was sentenced to 10 days in jail and fined $15. Five days of the jail sentence were suspended when he paid the fine. n his g Grilled tomatoes give appetite appeal to beef recipes and baked canned up lamb and veal, reaches dress makes the ideal baster for hot garnishes adding its own fine flavor to all foods hot or cold. After insulation is applied, the job of finding leaks becomes extremely dilficult, since the leak on the inside is often considerably removed from the leak on the outside. Also, it is well to keep in mind that insulating material that becomes damp does not perform as expected. In fact, during the colder weather, it may freeze and become practically useless as insulation.
