A team from Brigham City has won championship honors in the ladies Friday Night Bowling league in Ogden for the second time in three years. The Coors team, composed of Elva Garret, Deane Lichtenstein, Dorothy Bess, Ruth Jensen, and Pauline Forsgren. won the league title last week in a playoff with the Folkman Service team of Ogden. The local gals won two or three playoff games. The Brigham City squad had placed fii;st during first-hal- f Folkman Service came play. along to win the second half. The local team scored the second-higgame of the year with a total of 968 pins. Ruth Jensen was the top performer with a 170 average over league play. She posted a 200 game in state tournament action this year and emerged with a 476 series. A squad from Brigham City captured top honors in the league two years ago. The local ladies will attend the bowlers breakfast being held on Sunday morning at the Canton Cafe in Ogden, at which time the trophies will be presented. Tryouts for Pony league baseball will be held at Rees Pioneer park, Friday, May 2, at 6 p. m. and the following day, Saturday at 5 p. m., according to Howard Kelly, circuit president. Boys who will be 13 years old by Aug. 1, and who will not be 15 before Aug. 15, are eligible to try out. The league will have four teams with 16 players on each squad. There will be three additional tryouts next week before team managers and coaches meet to compose the squads. This is to allow a fair appraisal of each boys ability. The Third Twirls Three is topic for third grade with 37 students performing under the direction of Mrs. Maye Thomas. Teton Mountain Stomp, Laughing Dancers and Oxford Minuet are dances scheduled.
