A brief ceremony has been planned by officials of Brigham City and of Mountain Fuel Supply company, and Mayor C. LeGrande Horsley will turn an electric switch to ignite natural gas service for the first time in Brigham City. Alternate in Journalism Competition Judy Johhson, senior student and vice president of the student body at Box Elder High school, was named alternate in Motor the, Deseret News-Forstate Co. scholarship program finals held at the University of Utah last Saturday. Miss Johnson won her right to compete in the finals by being the winner of the regional meet held in Logan the previous week. Competing against her were the five other regional winners of the state. Winner of the contest was Alan Gibby, editor of the Weber High school newspaper. He will receive an expense-pai- d trip to Detroit, Mich., Oct. 15 and 16 as his prize in the contest. In case he is unable to make the trip, Judy will be sent in his place. In Detroit, the Utah winner will compete with the top teenage journalists of the nation for the prize of a four-yea- r college scholarship offered by Ford Motor company. , The educational grant will pay the winners tuition, books, supplies, and room and board at any college or university in the country. Journalism Student Miss Johnson was in the journalism class at the high school last year and at present is a member of the staff of the school paper, the Bee. She is an accomplished pianist, a member of the choir, a BEtte, an honor student, and an active member of other groups on the campus. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad A.
