Show MacDowell Music Club Awards Trophies v . ! r-- To Outstanding Music Students ' 0 j . m Gape Anderson and Wynn Bott, graduates of the Box Elder High school this year, were chosen ' by the MacDowell Music club of Brigham City as the two outstanding musicians from the graduating class. Engraved trophies were presented to the award winners by Mrs. Muriel Barker, president of the MacDowell club. Miss Anderson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Laron G. Anderson of Corinne, will also receive a $100 honor scholarship, sponsored by the National Association of Singing Teachers which is given by the Fine Arts Colony of Phillips University at Enid, Okla. Anderson, Corinne, will fly to New York City, Saturday morning where they will join Mr. and Mrs. Allston Jensen, daughter Shirley, Mantua, when they greet missionary sons who are returning on the S. S. Wynn, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bott, started his musical career when he entered junior high school and started playing a trumpet. He has been enrolled in the BEHS band during his entire four years at Box Elder, as well as the two years junior high school. ' He was a member of the Golden Spike Drum and i Bugle with corps and participated them in a national contest in California. He took his first private lessons fro mFrank Troxell and is now., studying with Mrs. Faye Hansen in Ogden. Wynn helped to organize a small dance band known as Kent Burts Jivers. He won first place on a trumpet solo in the Region One Music Festival this year and received a B pin for achievements in band. He has also played trumpet solos at church and civ--i egatherings on many occasions. He plans to continue his music studies when he enters college this fall.
