COTRO- - MANES a successful seaBox Elder High swim- Completing mers captured a tie with Cyprus for second place in the state swimming finals last Saturday afternoon. Tooele paddlers swam away with all but one gold medal as Roy Houser put the only black mark on the Buffalos records as he triumphed In the freestyle event. West finished lower in the brackets with 19, Granite with 17, East 13, Logan 11, and Bear River 1 Box Elders region champions faired little better than the schools other participating against the fish from, Tooele al though most of the boys placed in the finals. In the freestyle Roy Houser finished close behind Imai of Tooele to bring home a silver medal for Box Elder. Later he won Box Elders only gold medal in the state contest. Tom Davis, D. L. Busenbark, Ralph Jenson and Sid Jenson finished sixth place in the finals. Merlin Jenson finished second In the diving for the only other medal winner of Coach Fergu sons crew. Finishing off the finals, Christensen, Hall, Busen bark, Mollenaar, finished third in the 160 medley relay to total the Bees scoring. 100-yar- d Bee Wrestlers Victorious in Region Matches By Sid Jenson Box Elders wrestling squad captured first place over ten schools from the northern section of the state Saturday, when nine of Coach Gordons boys qualified for state berths. Davis placed second with six successful entrees while Weber occupied third place rating with six men placing. Also with six men representing their school in the state grappling contest, West High held fourth place honors. enBox Elders lightweight tree, Russ Suzuki, turned into 96lbs. of blazing fury and triumphed with two pins and two decisions for top . place rating in the region.
