E. n Utah artist and former art instrucWeight as Lynn Fawcett, Salt Lake City, tor of Mrs. Jacobson, looks on. well-know- Large Group of Art Lovers Attend Opening of Brigham City Aft Center More than 150 people signed the guest register at the annual Civic Improvement Art Tea held Sunday, Nov. 4, commemorating the opening of the Brigham City Art Center at Central school. Those attending were greeted art by Mrs. Henry L. Thorne, tea chairman; Mrs. Orval Sack-ett- , of Civic Impresident provement club, and Mrs. Dewane Jenson, art tea committee member. The event marked the opening of festivities in Box Elder county for American Art Month. Displayed in the halls and recreation room at the school were 56 lovely paintings from Utah artists, along with a group of fine work done by Brigham City adult amateur artists. Lynn Fawcett, Salt Lake City, outstanding Utah artist, was in attendance. of the afternoon Highlight was the presentation of beautiful landscape done in oils depicting dawn bursting over the hills by Mrs. Elverta P. Jacobson, Salt Lake City. Superintendent Kenneth E. Weight made and the presentation Mrs. Thorne accepted the gift for all art lovers in this area. It will be added to the growing collection at Central school. Principal J. B. Gunderson announces that the general public is invited, at any time,, to come and see the pictures dis played. Axel Frcdncksen of 1 remonton, State speech contest director for the W.C.T.U. conducted a pearl medal speech contest over radio station KBUH, Brigham City, on Sunday afternoon. The judges pronounced Carol Kent, of Tremonton as winner Wayne Sandall of Tremonton presented the pearl medal to the winner and congratulated , all the contestants on their fine work. Other contestants taking part on the program were: Sharon Tamarra Fredricksen, Ewer, Tamarra Peggi Palmer and Christensen, all of Tremonton.
