Show iffMI IMfMMfff ft?T WV Two Box Elder Men to Receive Two Brigham Eagles Named Officers; Receives High Degrees as Doctors of Medicine June 4 Drill Team Receives Honors and Trophy r - Leland Nelson, local scouter, was presented with special wood badge certificate following Wood badge and scout master training held last July at Shaver Lake, Calif. I'rTP i Making the presentation to the deputy district commissioner of the Bird Haven district was Robert Parker, field executive for Lake Bonneville council, Boy Scouts of America, Included in the presentation, made Sunday during morning session of North Box Elder stake quarterly conference, were two wooden beads on a buckskin thong, a neckerchief complete with Scottish plaid and a neckerchief slide. The awards are replicas of those presented by Lord Baden Powell originator of the Boy Scouts to those receiving the first Wood badges. Scouter Nelson spent one year six months of study and written work and six months of training classes along with 10 days to complete requirements for the award. , The invitation to attend the training was received from national Scout headquarters and Nelson, this year, has ' been asked to return and serve as a leader. The only other person in this community to receive this award is Lamont Yates, neighborhood scout commissioner in charge ot cubbing. While attending the out training, Nelson was elected as permanent patrol leader. It is interesting to note that out of 57 scouters attending the training, five of the seven LDS scouters were chosen to head the eight patrols. Other awards earned and received by Nelson during his 30 years in scouting include Eagle scout with bronze, gold and silver palms, Scout Masters Key; Silver Beaver; Honarary Master of-do- ( TVr' f Local Scouter Scout Award 4 M M SCOUTER HONORED Mr. and Mrs. Leland Nelsotl and the badge. He has served as assistant scout master, scout master, exneighborhood plorer leader, commissioner, district commissioner .and now deputy district commissioner. Instruction for local archers is scheduled to be given on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at C p. m. and the tournament events will take place Friday and Saturday beginning at 4 p. m. Burgess, 62, of Tremonton, died Sunday in the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, after an illness of two days. Mr. Burgess was born Feb. 8 of 1894, In Smithfield, a son James and Alice Denham Burgess. He was reared and educa- ted in Smithfield and came to Tremonton In 1918. He was a veteran of World War I On Jan 19, 1923, he married Etta Holdaway in Tremonton.
