She was born April 5, 1857, in Farmington, a daughter of Joseph and Jane Walker Redfern Hadfield. She was reared and education In Farmington. In 1876, she was married to Mr. Steed in Farmington. They later received their endowments in .the Logan LDS temple. The couple resided in Elma, Idaho. Mr. Steed died In 1887. Mrs. Steed then moved to Plymouth. Mrs. Steed was the only midwife in northern Utah and southern Idaho for many years, and sihe delivered more than 600 babies.
