Ylewi-ournKLDKX Brigham City, Utah al Wednesday, August 31, 1949 Dave, The Movie Dog, Will Perform At Brigham Citys Annual Peach Days Dave, the movie dog from Box Elder county, will perform at the Peach Days celebration Friday night, September 9, at the ball park, it was announced today by Ezra Owen, Brigham City Chamber of Commerce secretary. Recently starring in the movie as Red Bob, Son of Battle, Wull, the villain dog with the least vicious nor a sheep killer, sheep, Dave is well known not only to the people of Box Elder county but to people all over the United States. Wynn S. Hansen, bis owner and trainer, said he is not the least ; vicious nor a sheep kller, but a well trained dog and a good actor. While Dave was acting in the southern part of Utah Mr. Hansen could not be there so be phoned all of his instructons to a handler where they were taking the movies. Dave was imported from Scotland four years ago by Mr. Hansen, and is one of the original collie sheep dogs. His pedigree can be accurately traced back three hundred years. Mr. Hansen is well known throughout the west for his dog shows. Though this is the first time Dave has ever performed for Box Elder county people, Mr. Hansen has been training dogs Cant be crumpled and exhibiting them at celebrations for the last 20 years as a hobby. Many times in the past Mr. Hansen has had dogs perform at the Peach Days, the county fair, at celebrations at the Utah State Agricultural college and many other places. Recently he had Dave in Texas for and California performing large groups of people at various celebrations. Dave has participated in contests with many other sheep dogs in contests but has never been beat in a performance. He might be entered in the Utah fair sheep dog contest, Mr. Hansen said. Training dogs is just a robby with Mr. Hansen, his main occupation being operating a sheep ranch headquartered in Collinston. At the exhibition during Peach Days, Dave will round up five wild sheep that will be scattered on the baseball park, herd them around the four bases, load them in the truck, and perform in other ways to show his full ability. According to Mr. Hansen, Dave knows at least 25 different commands, and from all indications has the ability to reason or think. During the centennial celebration Dave performed for the people of the state in Salt Lake City, but he has never before performed for home county people. When Dave was brought to Utah he was trained to take commands only in Scottish accent, but with a lot of affection, he eventually picked up the American language. I only give one command with a Scottish accent," Mr. Hansen said. When I want him to sit down or stop for a minute, I sSy Attledoo (that will do).
