In the fourth grade each student has four teachers in what is known as the platoon system, similar to that followed in high school. Along with his or her knowledge of the pupil, the teacher brought to the conference a file reccontaining comprehensive ords of the childs entire school career to date, along with health record, physical growth and progress record, vital and scholastic statistics. The cumulative folder also included periodic papers showing the childs work progress in various subjects. About half of the time in the conference was devoted to going over this folder, teacher and parent together. The remainder of the time generally was devoted to comparing notes on the child, discussing any problems he might have, and mutually seeking better to understand the child, and means of being more helpful. The files and reports on each child are strictly confidential between parents and teacher, Bott said. During the weeks conferences, Central and Lincoln school association officers served as a welcoming committee and ' ushers, and served punch and wafers to all parents attending the conferences. Wed like to thank the Parent-Teache- r association officers of both Lincoln and Central districts for this cooperation," Bott said.
