Many months of study and many previous meetings w'ere held before the Vernal conference paved the which way for the agreement has just been reached. In November, 1922, the upper basin states entered into an agreement with the lower basin states in which they agreed to deliver to the lower basin 7,500,-00acre feet of water annually for use in the lower basin. Included in the lower basin states are California, Nevada and part of Arizona. An international agreement was reached which guarantees Mexico 1,000,000 acre feet delivered at the border. were When these agreements made and ratified, the way was cleared for the building of Hoover dam. The division as approved by the commission must now go before each of the state legislatures for, ratification before it becomes final. When ratified the way will be Ph. 56 and approved, opened for full utilization of the headwaters of the Colorado. Under the terms of the compact an estimated 7,500,000 acre feet which is the upper basin's share will be divided as follows Colorado, 51.75 percent; Utah, 23 percent; Wyoming, 14 percent; New Mexico, 11.25 percent and Arizona will receive 60,000 acre feet or approximately of one per cent. iys I Bought An my pack ve 75c been a sucker to have passed that one. Main ;w MINNEAPOLIS The (CD witness next generation may sensational advances in medical work dealing with human longevity. Although life expectancy of the average male child at birth from only 2 8 has increased years in American Revolutionary times to more than til years today, a man of 10 can expect to live only four years longer than he could 170 years ago. But medical science is swinging away from study of infant and child maladies to more intense woik on geriatrics the study of ailments in older age groups. That is shown in an analysis of mortality tables by Northwestern National Life Insurance Companj. The Wigglesworth life tables published in 1789, estimated that the average 10 year-olman ol time George Washingtons would live aifother 26 years. The American experience table, issued in 1868 but coverrates of ing mortality increased a 40 year-olmans expectancy by two jours and two months. Hated nearly a century later, the insurance commissioners' sijndaiu ordinary mortality table covers 1931-40The table became legal for insurance use in most states last Jan. 1. The commissioners table agrees with the U. S. office ol vital statistics in giving todays average man of 10 an additional 29 30 years of life expectancy. That, the Northwestern study points out, represents an improvement of only three to four years for the older age bracket in the last century and a half. However, recent discoveries and developments in the next 25 years will provide the next major improvement in health Introductory Offer average Utah family is placed at $1527 per family compared with the national average of $4308 per family.
