Under this set-uteam managers are allowed to get together on an agreeable date any time during the week that a game is scheduled. Brigham City will entertain Lewiston in the opening game. Four of seven league games will be played here in Brigham City. Wardrop advised that he would attempt to make all of them night games for the convenience of spectators and players alike. When asked what kind of a team he expected to have this year Wardrop replied, "We expect to have a good team again. I really expect to have a better team than last year with better fielding and hitting and also faster base running. Naturally the pitching wont be as strong with Bud Powers gone. However Basil Williams will be on hand and he's a much improved pitcher over last year. The catcher is back as well as last years keystone combination and an entire outfield. Barring unforseen accidents to key players we should be in the thick of the fight all through the year. Sgt. Wardrop stated that he is calling the first practice session for the team for 6 p. m. Thursday, May 20. He extended an invitation to all bojs not .on Coach Vernal Harris' high school team to put in their appearance. All boys who reside in the towns that send students to Bo.'i Eider high school and who will not reach their 18th birthday this calendar year are eligible for competition on the Brigham American Legion junior baseball team. Thanks to the generosity of various Brigham City merchants, this years Brigham City club will be decked out in brand new uniforms. Wardrop predicted that there will not be a better dressed baseball team in the state this year. Even the two team mascots will have new uniforms this year. The uniforms cost the sponsors $23 each and that with good care, they should last for several years. Brigham Amer. Legion Schedule June 4 Lewiston hero. June 11 Richmond there. When Dave was in the ring, Ken was keeping close watch on the other corner, and most of the evening there were four men in the ring where there should have been only two. In the last fall, Dave was about out and Gorilla Poggie was in the act of applying the pressure with a Boston Crab hold. Ken came into the ring and patted him on the back and he relaxed thinking it was the referee and Ken dragged Dave out of the ring and took over. It was drop kick after drop kick that finally ended the match in Ken and Daves favor. Not satisfied with that the four men started a brawl in the ring and Finn Gibbs, the referee, had no other choice but to let them slug it out. It didn't take long, however, for Ken and Dave to convince Poggie and Hansen that theyd had enough. Joe Lyman and George Over-hullput on a good exhibition in wrestling to a draw. George won the first fall with a full nelson, and Joe Lyman took the second with an abdominial stretch. Then youll know why Ford production is up to 400 tractors a day. Leave it to Ford! The American Legion Junior baseball program for this district will get under way very shortly it was announced today by First Sergeant Harvey Ward-rop- , coach and manager of the Brigham team. According to Wardrop eight teams will comprise the league for district 1, which includes Cache, Box El- der and Rich counties. American Legion posts which are sponsoring teams this year are: Richmond. Logan, Smithfield, Cornish, Wellsville, Garland, Lewiston and Brigham City. This amounts to an increase of five teams over last year when only Brigham City, Logan and fielded teams. Dave and Ken were well on their way to the first fall and got a little careless and Ken was pinned. That taught them their lesson early and they never forgot it. The second fall came after a series of drop kicks had Poggie unconscious and all they had to do was turn him over and let the referee count. bring a Ford Tractor out to your place, without any obligation. ' MONDAY Plans Made To The four man tag wrestle, which was to settle the disputed match of a week ago, was decided without doubt last Monday night in the Brigham City Ken Mayne and Dave Armory. Reynolds were able to eat after the match and Gorilla Poggie and Meanie Hansen came to Brigham City for the ride. The challenge was entered by Dave and Ken after Meanie and Poggie defeated them in a four man tag match the previous week. The winner was to take all of the money and the loser get the exercise. Wrestling close to their own corners all night the Gorilla and Hansen ganged up on the boys to win the match, but such was not the case Monday. Dave and Ken were ready for the questionable tactics of their opponents with a little of the same medicine. Results of Buddys training was evidenced by his decisive victory in Pocatello, over a tough competitor from California recently, and his defeat of Wii-forDos, Jardine, who previous to this meeting has never been beaten before, lost a unanimous 10 rounder to the Ogden With Buddys sudden spurt into winning ways and Keiths recent losses, the dopsters are looking for the negro boxer to probably lift the lightweight crown from the head of Keith. Added color of the fights between these two boys is the tact that their fathers have boxed. The last meeting between Washington's dad and Morris1 Nuttall was held in Lewiston several years ago. A large crowd is expected to witness one of the finest cards ever presented in northern Utah. The show is expected to start promptly at 8:30.
