In charge of the review was Cadet Col. Dan Pernell, the squadron commander, assisting him was Cadet Maj. Marty Tasker, the deputy commander and Cadet Maj. Steve Wilson, the adjutant. The administrative officer is Cadet Capt. Kenneth Spatz, and Cadet Capt. Jim Oost is the information officer. RECEIVING awards from the Air Force Association was Cadet TSgt. Bret Downs for Outstanding Flight Sergeant. The Rocket Club will be directed next year by Cadet Staff Sergeant Dan Leiwelle. Cadet Maj. Jodie Fisher is the Duputy Commander of the AFJROTC 81st Utah Squadron. The new squadron 7 commander for the school year will be Cadet Maj. Outstanding Flight CADET CAPT. Danny George is the new materiel officer. A flight next year will comprise of third year cadets. Cadet 1st Lt. Pat Loftus will be the flight commander. Com- mander was awarded to Cadet 2nd Lt. William PetPrson and Outstanding Staff officer was awarded to Cadet Maj. Steven 76-7- Wilson. CADET AIRMAN SCOTT SMITH college-sponsore- A SON of David and Smith of 1093 Bedrod, Diane Scott was awarded his scholarship through the University of Utah. Winners of National Merit scholarships are selected by officials of the sponsoring institutions after extensive testing. Forty Utah high school students are among the 1,485 students to be named to the four-yea- r awards. Sjoblom, said it was a difficult meet to lose, after coming so close to winning; however, she quickly added, l am very proud of these students and am especially proud of all their hard work and personal committment. These two teams met and were both willing to put up a good battle against each other. I CENTRAL started off well with Kerry Roberts hitting a triple, and Willy Ferneau stealing three bases, but after that Central went down hill until the last inning. On Friday, May 14, Central had their awards assembly. This was for awarding the students who helped make Central have an excellent school year. Winner of the Davis SCD (Soil Conservation District) Range Conservation Poster Contest, Junior High and High School Division, is Mark Kluzek of Layton. THIS announcement was made by Tom Williams, Chairman of the Davis SCD Board of Supervisors. Mark is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kluzek. He is a sophomore at Layton High School and receives twenty dollars for his first place entry. Isabelle Moreno, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Moreno, West Point is second place winner and receives ten dollars. Isabelle is a ninth grader at North Davis Junior CENTRAL also had a very good year in track. The boys came out number one in the district and the girls, number three.
