Scott Kelly and Vernon Grlffeth, of Layton, serve as managers. Quite an accomplishment, this in league play and season total of 10 victories, but for Coach Noble Fishbums Cubs it means even more. It marks the windup of three years of play by this same group that has seen equalachievements, outstanding ly throughout; for during their seventh and eighth grade competition, they came through without a single scoring another 10 victories in league and practice play! And,as if tnat werent enough, most of the members of the basketball squad played along with such other standouts as Dennis Richard Clark, Jerry Barker, Hess, Ricky Johns, Steven Lay-toRoger Orton, and Jay Starkey on Centrals 1959 football team which, under the coaching of Jay Cullimore and Kendall Sedgwick, went through its full season without a defeat; scoring a total of 128 points to their opponents 32, in five games! Several also played, ahead of their class, on last years track and baseball teams, and are looking forward to further accomplishments in those fields as spring rolls around. High School coaches will look forward to listing this group of exceptional youngsters on their rosters next year, but lest the idea be generated that Central Junior High is concerned only with turning out athletes, a look at some of the groups accomplishments in other lines would be in order.
