Sturgeon, fourth grade teacher at Doxey Elementary, had her students do tome creative writing as they looked at a picture of Donald Duck on a sea. Here are some of the results of the writing: need for spirituality In the space age on all The by James Sevan Student of Mrt. Marjorie Thatcher , Davit High School of the Since the advent atomic bomb the men of science have come to realize even more fully that there is some power much greater than their own. Man alone is just a minute force when working with such vast matters. The scientists who developed atomic energy meditated for a long time, debating whether or not to release this tremendous power in the form of atomic bombs, The effects of such a move were almost incomprehensible and would reach into the realm of the unknown. Finally, of course, they decided to make the bombs, hoping to end a long, treacherous war. They would then be able to apply this knowledge of Btomic energy to a constructive, useful purpose. In coming to this tremendous decision these men were fully aware of their own inadequacy in making this choice which would have an effect far-reachi- ) t peoples of the world. They greatly needed assistance In this grace matter, and of course, turned to spiritual guidance to help solve this problem. Now we are entering the vast unknown of outer-spacEvery day we are coming closer and closer to the day when we will send a human being into Bpace. This man will have to be near to physical perfection to stand this great ordeal but most of all he will have to have strong spiritual convictions. Without this spirituality he will be lacking in the mental strength to carry out this very dangerous and important mission. In reaching out to vast, new developments all around us, man needs most of all the stability that he can feel only by strong spiritual ties with our Father in Heaven, knowing He will guide us if our Insepurposes are worthy. and doubt will take over curity in all our minds if we do not hold firmly to our spiritual values and give much importances to this part of our lives. e.
