Recreational problems cieate periods of "time on their hands" to our kids. Very often we find a lack of inteiest by parents in the everyday actions of tlieir children. Children cant be blamed many times because of infractions due to lack of instruction from parents. The line between right and wrong is all too thin. In talking to the Layton police officers, they stated that they had found a child wandering in Layton a short time ago with a .22 rifle in lus hands. Whether it was carelessness or neglect on the part of the parents who left the gun in leach of the youngster it doesnt lessen the danger of an accident. I believe if we all would turn over a new leaf and show more interest in our childrens interests we would all find moie satisfaction in our existence. Our state law refeis veiy specifically to tile disposing of guns and target guns to juveniles under 14 unless in the company of a parent or guardian. This law was enacted for the specific purpose of safety to our children. These laws should lie lespected and obejed if for no other reason than good common sense Lets all show more interest and enthusiasum in oui childi en s likes and dislikes. After all they are a part of us and a gieat t of what they become Is up to us.
