Show water. After being in this aolution for about six hours the bides are removed, cleaned of all flesh, fat, ete., and put into the tanning sol- -' ution of water, salt and alum. The salt acts" as a preservative and the alum fixes the hair in the skin so it will not fall out. The skins are from three left in this solution to six days. They are then dried, worked well arjd oiled. The boys have tanned about m skins and are going to use them for making gloves, caps, cuffs, and house slippers. The fly tying project was led by Lynn Thomson, one of the students. Lynn has had considerable experience in this line and has caught many a fish with the flies he has tied tied himself. The many things the boys have learned during this project has helped them to advance in their Scout work and has assisted them in attaining merit badges in taxidermy and leatherwork.
