Show -- News About Folks la KaysvUla, Da via Coaatr, Utah Thurs., Apr. 26, 1951 Tsge 2 CLINTON-SUNSE- T LORETTA CHILD RICE week, where folk, Virginia, thl Mr. i Gossip.... j In the past few day the word battle of the century has centered around one of our most respected and be loved Generals. A controversy that is doing no good for either side of a much discussed issue and is merely giv ing our enemies much fuel to throw on a fire that should neter be raging at this time. It has become such an issue that tempera have gotten out of control, even to the extent that some of our honored senators resorted to name calling and ended up in a radio studio brawl. If there was ever a time that unity was needed in this land of ours it is right now. With the fighting going on in Korea, with blood shed and lives being lost every day, is it asking too much that this controversy be brought out in the open so that the people of this nation may know the true facts? Regarding of the outcome it would be asking too much that what decisions that may be made could satisfy everyone. Every American Citizen has the right to his own opinion but the decisions are going to have to come from those that hold the responsible places in government. However, the people are entitled to know the true facts and hear both aides of the argument and that this information in its entirety be given out publicly without secret investigations behind closed doors. The quickest and surest way to cause a loss of confidence and faith in our government is to hold back and cover up testimony both pro and con. Let us hope for a wide open investigation and much of the bitter feeling that now exists will disappear. This is important so that the nation may get back to a sense of unity once more. Name calling neverWttled any controversy. The main issue of the day is to bring the Korean War to an early and successful end.
