Last week I attended the WHISKEY MEETING at the Capitol Bldg., and spent a very unprofitable afternoon listening to the Liquor Law being kicked and booted around. A lot of The petty politics and Law BOYS were at it again. The Liquor specifically states that the enforcement is up to the local authorities and designates those that are expected to enforce it. The bone of contention is the fact that the Liquor Commission has discontinued the Special En0 forcement Group and cut this part of the budget GIM-Mlike. not BOYS do which a year the The Governor and the Commission have asked that the enforcement be placed where the law calls for enforcement, that is with the load authorities. It appears to me that the Liquor Commission and the Governor have done an exceptionally good job. They have cut the liquor budget $575,000.00 plus an additional $300,000.00 that was asked for by the old commission as additional to the old budget. This language is something that the GIM-MBOYS cant understand. Last year the State Enforcement Group made four arrests in Davis County. If that is the kind of Enforcement that other counties got that is not much action for $109,000.00. Layton has enforced the Liquor Law and asked no help from any one. This can be done over the entire state if the local authorities are enforcement minded and if, they live up to their oath of office. The Governor told those of us present that he is going to live up to his oath and he is expecting other duly elected and appointed officers to do the same and he expressed himself in no uncertain terms that that is just what he expects done. The people of this state and the taxpayers are getting fed up with BOYS, and petty politics and GIM-Mme going to demand the enforcement of the law or else. So if your liquor law is not enforced blame your local authorities and dont let this fool you.
