Some Germans fled but others just sat in their barracks and stared. One camp commander put down his gun and put on an American Red Cross band on his sleeve. In a remarkably short time we were moved to other quarters by 'trucks, fed meals which were unbelievable, given clean clothes and sent by air to France. We were soon aboard a ship, headed for home. During those 14 days on the ocean I ate as I have never eateninmy whole life. When we arrived in New York, the bands were playing and the Red Cross was waiting with ice cream, cake, things donuts, apples and milk we hadnt seen anywhere but in our dreams for four long months. I cant praise the Red Cross enough for what they are doing for servicemen and their families. Prior to entering the army, Pfc. Jensen was employed at the Ogden Arsenal. (Continued from page 1.)
