Hercules An important ore discovery has been made in this Lion Hill property which adjoins the Chlodouble-com- partment Following a week of the greatest activity the local market has ever seen, the present week was one of the quietest in its history. There is, just the same, a healthy inquiry for Utah Investment shares, and though tbe volume of business in the present Week has Deed udder the normal, it is worthy of dote that the bulk of the trading was in the higher priced shares. Ajax is recovering strength as the result of' some good shipments of ore, and there high grade copper-golis a strong demand for the shares, though at still down prices. Alliance experiences no change, and the late meetings .to determine whether the proplerties could be worked to better with advantage fay consolidating some near neighbors have not yet re suited in anything definite. Bullion-Becis a faveriteand there is a strong probability that a dividend will be paid this niodth. Thii ha3 been semi officially announced, but what its si2e will be is still conjectural. However, April will likely see another dividend, and this is almost promised to be one of the big ones of the mine. The shares are commanding a desirable figure. Centennial Eureka is without movement, though the shares are wanted at a few points below holders valuation. Mines are still putting out copper ore from the late disclosure, and earnings are increasing , The shares should be a good buy at present prices. Chloride Point fails to react as the talent predicted, and while no gains in price are to be recorded the shares have held their own in the week. Business in the security was rather lighter than usual,' owing to the fact that but few shares are left on this market. Companys new mill is completed and will be put into commission as soon as the electric current can be delivered . This will be within ten or fifteen days. Dexter sold at $1.50 this week. Some unsatisfactory reports in reference to the new electric plant and the mill are having a depressing effect on the shares. Inability to generate sufficient power for the stamps is probably the only defect, and this, the management says, is due only to the late freezing weather. Galena sold lightly in the week. has almost The rush on Geyser-Maricome to a stand still for the present, and while no business has been done, the shares have been quoted at a slightly .better figure. Mammoth is not so strong as last week, but the decline is not marked ; $20,000 were distributed in dividends this week, and d k forty-stam- p n the prospects are favorable for a continuation. The company is making some very heavy shipments of ore and the mill is turning out bullion regularly. Mercur remains stationary but is in demand at slightly prices. Some shares hands. changed Northern Light, the assessment having been paid On about seven eighths of the stock when due, advanced about 10 cents in the bid. There is a necessity for another assessment of about 7 cents to wipe out the indebt-ennesof the company, but nothing official has been announced in to its declaration. Tintic Excursion. On Sunday, (tomorrow) the Rio Grande Western Ry. will run an eSciirsion to the camps of the Tintic District. The purpose being to give mining men and mining investors an opportunity to see the mines and mills of this, the Ueadville of Utah. It is worthy of note that the Rio Grande Western was the first to inauguiate these mining camp excursions, and other roads following the lead, the mines of Utah and their merits have been brought more prominently before the investing public. Golden Gate Current was turned on to the motors during the week and ample for all power requirements. Today the mines commence delivering ore to the big mill, and Manager H. A. Cohen is now on the ground watching the features of the stait. The mill will commence a treatment of 500 tons a day, which will be into 800 tons within thirty days after starting. The Golden Gate mill will do much towards showing up the merits of the Mercur region. Germania Smelter The Colorado Iron Works company, of which Mr. A. M. Grant is resident agent, is putting in five additional Bruckner furnaces for the Germania. These furnaces are the largest of their kind ever erected in this valley and will give the smelter a much increased capacity for the roasting of ores. Horn Silver The annual report for this company, the second heaviest dividend payer among Utah mines, shows the treasury containing a balance of over $200,000. Overland Mr. P. J. Donohue, the well known authority on mines and mills, states that the vein as exposed in this property is the best defined yet opened in the Mercur region. For 300 feet along the strike and to a depth of 350 feet it has been opened and shows an average width of about 15 feet, values running about $7.
