The accommodations offered in the Kaysville opera house are better than those offered by most houses in towns the size of Kaysville The seats are more comfortable, the heating better and the ventilation much superior than one usually finds As to the pictures shown,, they are also much better, on the whole, than one usually seea in places of this size, but notwithstanding these facta the Kaysville movie show does not enjoy the patronage usually accorded such places of amusement. It may be that the people of Kaysville demand better pictures, as whole, than are shown here. The close proximity of. the Salt Lake movie palaces, where the latest and very best pictures are shown, undoubtedly bas something to do with the lack of attendance here., Be that as it may, however, there is good reasoa why the Kaysville house Is entitled to better patronage. Better patronage will secure better pictures, and it is now conceded by everyone that the movies are now well nigh indispensable as a form of educational 'amusement;-n- ot only in this country but all over the world. There are many people in Kaysville who are never seen at a movie show and the management needs their patronage.. It needs it to enable the securing of better pictures at all times; it need it to render a better service along the lines of popular education which is the mission of the moics. . Think this matter over, good people of Kaysville. The movies are shown in your opera house, under the management of one of your most worthy women who needs your patronage to make her show the success she is entitled to. CLEAN UP THE BACILOTS It is none too eariy to think about cleaning up theL many dilapidated looking lots in Kaysville. One needs but to look about a little to see a vast number of back lots, front lots and every other kind of lots that are sadly in need of a bit of cleaning up. They surely show that the ravages of winter have been particularly hard on them this year. Of course the delapidated condition of many of the lota and bare places can be blamed on the east wind, which is a great help in wrecking fences and piling up refuse in every nook and corner. But for the most part it is the fault of the owner or owners. Before long now, when the south wind hits us and sweeps away he snow, even more refuse than is now discern-abl- e will be in plain view. Therefore it behooves the good people of Kaysville who pride themselves on having one of the cleanest towns in the county of Davis, to think well on these things and got off to a good start at the first ;n of the coming of spring and elean up the lots of the town and the many tumbled-dowfences that surround them. In many places trees have been trimmed in the fall and all the unsightly branches or trunks have been allowed to lay just whore they fell. In other places the woodsman has taken advantage of the fine wide sereets of our city and placed in the center thereof a great pile of branches, and too often there are piles of brickbats, wash boilers and what not! The streets were created for one use only, and that is traffic, and they should distinctly not be used as public dumping n grounds for refuse. These streets must be cleaned up some time and at the beginning of spring is the finest time, for as the summer wears on there are many more things to do beside cleaning up from the year previous. Refuse left over one spring frequently remains for a number of years. Unsightly fences, just because they hapin to be in the center of a lot, give no excuse for leaving them. Straighten them up or else bum them. An- other thing that detracts mightily from the beauties of our fair city-ithe habit of some people of kiFing large trees and leaving them to suffer bef .re the eyes of all mem The bark is chopped away a foot wide around the trunk and the big shady tporrsters are left to die and rot Way es if they were able to uproot themselves and crawl away to some hidden hollow or s I MISS CLARA RICHARDS tr" Thi Ul c"not PROBATE AND GUARDIANSHIP NOTICES Jo, but stand aa a mute monument to the ruthless cruelty lUui careless ideas (Consult County Clerk or Respective of the woodsman with the axe. Public speaking contests stimulate an intensive study of subjects worthy of public discussion. What good is to be derived from the privilege of free speech, in this great country of ours, if we dp not take advantage of it and develop ourselves in this art! Since the great key to success is in expressing our thoughts and clesr-l- y giving information to others, and man is judged not by what he knows, but what he says, it is very important that we avail ourselves of every opportunity of developing this talent along with our other education.
