V- - HAVE always thought of Chi l.strnas time, w'hen it has comes round apart from the veneration due to its . sacred name and Origin, if anything belonging to it can be apart from that ns a good time; a kind, forgiving, cluiritable timo. The above are the words of that gieat humanitarian, Cffajdes Dickens. Ilis thought exprs sse& the fundamental sentiments which we like to see exemplified oil this favorite holiday. Kindness, forgiveness, charity. These three qualities are the best Christmas gifts. In so far as they are given, this old world needs little more reforming. With kindness, forgiveness, .and charity, there would be no more 'wars. Nations would exercise charitable judgments toward their neighbors, and make overtuAs for friendly relations, and these overtures .would be accepted. The war spirit would die out. With these qualities there would be no more industrial troubles. Employers would be so kind toward their employees, that the latter would abandon all feelings of discontent and revolt. Both elements would work together harmoniously, and as, a result of such their production would improve both in quality and quantity. The employers would make more money arid would share it more generously, and , everyone would be better off. So in every walk of life, these generous sentiments would take the place of selfishness- aod- - antflgoHi,;m. The ancient feuds that have embittereddife yould pass away. This is the true expression of Christmas spirt, to manifest kindness charity, and forgiveness. Without these, the most munificent gifts are valueless. With these, the most meager Christmas offering carries a message of inspiration. -- E. to V - t iQ v"' yv.Jt D-- mtr m ',s ft 29!ll!l!12jill3!14!151!l6iijl7!i!8!!9HHS0 ed.
