Spending tne night in Chicago, our party next day took a trip on the sight seeing car througlnthe city, a distance of about forty miles. I saw many interesting sights between Chicago and Buffalo, our next stop. At Buffalo we took the street car to the Niagara Falls, a trip any one would certainly enjoy. Here we had a rather exciting expedience. One of the wheels came off and the street car ran a distance of 175 feet in a very irregular path down of us received a mighty good shaking the track. The twenty-tw- o up. All received minor bruises,, but no serious injuries. Had the car gone to the light instead of the left, we would have taken a nose dive into the liver, just two or three feet away. Along with the many sights of Niagara, we visited the power plant, one of the largest in the world. When we reached Hoboken we ferried across the river to New York City. We spent two days taking in the sights, including a visiLto the Statue of Liberty. We boafded the S. S. United States, Nov. 2, for a 12 day voyage across the Atlantic. The first two days the sea was calm, but the rest of the time very rough. Few came in for breakfast, lest they might have to feed the fishes soe more. It was on these days of rough sea that two major operations were performed, one for rupture, and one for appendicitis. The cutting had to be done between the waves with dead engines on the ship. These operations were very unusual upon the sea, but they were successfully performed by Dr. Schow. We sighted land in Scotland, Monday, Nov. 11, ,and arrived in Oslo, Norway Tuesday Nov. 12. Here we were able fo sit stil and njoy our supper without chasing the food around the table.
