Over thirty one hundred farmers and housewives from' this and -other states were registered at the 1 encampment according to the figuies released yesterday. While this Is slightly below the""!Tligh mark of last year it is regarded as very favorable by Director William Peterson in view of the harvest situation which is just now facing most of the farmers of the state. A survey of the attendants at the encampment indicated a tremendous enthusiasm on the part of the farmers for this instructional and recreational summer period. The great tent city east of the college was completely populated and a great number went back and forth in cars. All of the counties of the state were represented and the visitors from other states were more numerous than in past years. The lectures and the demonstrations as well as the department sessions' of the afternoon drew heavily throughout the period of the encampment. One of the most popular exhibit! s was the one presented by the department of horticulture showing the number of fruits raised in Utah and the high quality of the product produced here. According to the department the fruit industry in the state Jias opportunities' for development and home consumers should be educated to tob point of using more fruit.
